The Ahmed Abdul Kadeer Foundation (AAKF) was created in the fond memory of Dr. Ahmed Abdul Kadeer shortly after he passed away in December of 2009. Dr. Kadeer's accomplishments spanned several fields; he was a much respected academic who served the University of Karachi for five decades as the head of the Department of International Relations, was the Foreign Students’ Advisor, and held the position of Director of Area Study Centre for Europe. Dr. Kadeer also taught many sought-after classes of French language when he returned from Paris having completing his PhD from the University of Sorbonne, France. Such distinctions earned Dr. Kadeer the esteem of students, colleagues, family, friends, and acquaintances alike - yet it was perhaps his charismatic persona and warm character that left the deepest impression.
These qualities were perhaps best reflected in his advocacy for learning. Dr. Kadeer spent much of his life encouraging the youth in his family, especially the women, to persist in their academic pursuits. Such encouragement extended beyond his family and immediate circles; Dr. Kadeer's domestic help also experienced, first hand, his support for education. Such championing of the pursuit of knowledge has caused Ahmed Kadeer's warmth to live on through the individuals he helped mentor and train. To carry on this legacy even further, AAKF hopes to support the academic pursuits of students in Pakistan and India by financing their education and formal training. The scholarships provided are as much a reflection of our love for an inspiring personality as they are a commitment to the values he imparted: the interdependence of individuals and our fulfillment of rights enjoined by those we encounter in life.
AAKF currently finances the education of 90 children in Pakistan and India, and with your help, will continue to provide assistance to many more. To learn more about our work, visit us on Facebook.
